Burials at sea
Memorial flower baskets
One of the most beautiful ways to scatter at sea — and the part of the service families most often tell us they remember.

How it works
- 1
The cremated remains are placed inside a weighted, biodegradable basket with flowers woven onto the handle.
- 2
They are covered with flower petals, and a dozen roses are laid on top.
- 3
At the location, the roses are handed out to the passengers.
- 4
The basket is placed in the water and sinks, dispersing the remains as it descends.
- 5
The petals float back to the surface while the captain circles the vessel.
- 6
The roses go into the water one by one as the boat comes around.
Each basket is made individually, so no two are the same.
