What you see
The harbor from the water, not the boardwalk
Ventura Harbor looks completely different from a boat. You go out past the commercial fishing fleet, along the sailboat rows, down the Keys where the houses back straight onto the water, and out toward the harbor mouth.
The captain narrates the whole run — what the boats are, who works out of here, what the buildings used to be. And there is a decent chance of sea life: harbor seals and sea lions haul out on the docks and buoys most of the year.
Tours are private. You book the boat, so it is your group and the captain, which makes it work equally well for a family visit, a first date or a client you are trying to impress.
There are no scheduled public tours at the moment.
The legacy site advertised drop-in weekend tours; those are not running. Every harbor tour is now private and booked ahead by phone. If you want longer than 40 minutes, that is a private charter instead.
